Overview
dsh-grafana is a DeepSeek Harness plugin for agent-native Grafana observability. It provides dashboards, live metrics, trends, alerts, and cross-source investigation, with safe, reviewable dashboard updates. The plugin operates on Grafana APIs and dashboard JSON directly, without requiring screenshots. It is currently pre-1.0, and Grafana 12+ compatibility is not yet certified.
The plugin allows users to fetch dashboards by browser URL or UID, search dashboards by title and tag, query live data behind panels, duplicate dashboards, and edit panels, queries, thresholds, variables, and layout through conversation. It preserves the dashboard folder automatically, detects concurrent edits before writing, and requires native DSH user approval for every write. Service-account credentials are kept in the local DSH credential store, and multiple named Grafana sources can be configured and targeted per tool call.
Installation is done via the DSH plugin command, and there is no build step because the plugin is plain ESM JavaScript. Configuration is managed through a browser settings card in DSH Web, where users can add, edit, and validate named Grafana sources. The plugin supports read-only mode, which disables write tools entirely, and enforces least-privilege RBAC with specific Grafana permissions for each tool.
