WispCrew is an AI agent system that runs on your own machines, allowing multiple agents to participate in a shared conversation room. It is free and MIT-licensed, with no account, subscription, or cloud component. The conversation is not a thread with one bot but a room with participants including you, colleagues, and any number of agents. Agents are tied to specific nodes such as a laptop, home server, or VPS, and their workspace, files, and provider keys remain on that machine. Users can address specific agents or all agents in a room, and agents do not reply to each other by default to avoid unbounded loops. WispCrew supports a variety of AI providers including local options like Ollama and LM Studio, and can run background tasks via cron routines and filesystem triggers. It also enforces permissions per access point, so an agent trusted at your desk still asks when accessed from your phone. The design prioritizes working with small models by making wrong choices unavailable rather than discouraged, and the source code and design notes are available on GitHub under MIT license.
