Overview
Storyloom Studio is an open-source audiovisual storytelling tool that turns a manuscript into a chapter that can be read, heard, and seen. It preserves the original text while directing voices, characters, and cinematic scenes around it. The site describes importing EPUB, PDF, or plain text, or asking the story writer for a complete multi-chapter manuscript.
The product stages a chapter by generating expressive speech, aligned words, and sparse cinematic scenes only when requested. It maintains a stable registry for characters, voices, visual references, and continuity evidence, and keeps creative direction inspectable and execution deterministic so a voice or scene can be regenerated without losing the rest of the performance.
On the hosted service, users bring their own OpenRouter key, which is encrypted at rest and opened only while their own generation job runs. Storyloom can also be self-hosted, using a deterministic mock, sharing one OpenRouter key across a trusted self-host, or keeping inference local on Apple Silicon, with database, object storage, queue, and provider policy remaining explicit.
