Morgenstern is a writing studio application currently in beta preparation, described as "el estudio de tu obra" (the studio of your work). It combines manuscript editing, structure management, versioning, and an editorial assistant in a dark interface by default. The project is being prepared for a beta release, though no date or public download is available yet. The technology stack includes React, Tauri 2, Rust, and Python.

The application provides a three-panel interface: structure on the left, manuscript in the center, and a contextual assistant on the right. It includes a Markdown editor, reading view, and preserved versions to revisit decisions. For editorial production, users can define an objective, approve tasks, and review proposals, with diffs making changes visible before incorporating them as a new manuscript version. The studio organizes works by type, references, characters, and editorial context, and integrates EPUB export; audio and video remain available in the engine.

Responsibilities are divided clearly: React and Tauri 2 for desktop, Python for agents and editorial services, Rust for parallel hashes and FFmpeg supervision with limits and timeouts. There is no Electron or resident Node in production, and models and engine are installed separately from the client. A public executable showcase demonstrates EPUB/audio generation and a multimedia quality gate, independent of the future desktop beta. The showcase includes a synthetic EPUB download, a 440 Hz one-second audio tone, and a report with SHA-256 hashes. Automated tests provide bounded structural validation of the EPUB, not equivalent to EPUBCheck certification. The product is under development by Calin Rus; screenshots use test content, and the core and user data remain private.
