Overview

DuskTranslate is a client-side JavaScript application for translating EPUB books chapter by chapter. It allows users to import EPUB, TXT, JSON project, and backup files, translate Japanese source text into English, and compare the source and editable translation side by side. The application maintains a project glossary for names and preferred terminology, and projects can be saved locally or synced to a private signed-in library. Users can rename, archive, restore, back up, and resume projects, as well as read standalone EPUBs, source books, and completed translated books in the built-in reader. Translated work can be exported as TXT or EPUB. The app supports Google AI Studio or OpenRouter models with the user's own API key, and translation requests go directly from the browser to the provider using the key supplied for the current editor session. DuskTranslate is built with Vite and deployed on Vercel, using Supabase Auth, PostgreSQL, and Storage for optional accounts and cloud projects, IndexedDB for the device library, and JSZip for EPUB and backup processing. The interface is responsive and available on desktop and mobile, with light or Eclipse themes.
