Overview
Concerto is a pre-release, local-first AI coding agent harness written in Rust. It runs single-agent loops and gated multi-agent orchestration entirely on the user's machine against a choice of LLM providers. Every model-generated file write, shell command, and git operation passes through a policy engine into a reversible filesystem overlay, and every decision is recorded on an append-only audit trail. Native Iced desktop and independent ratatui terminal frontends share one runtime, one configuration model, and one persistent project memory. The project is a Rust reimplementation inspired by OpenCode, with a first-match policy engine whose unmatched verdict is deny, a VirtualFs overlay that preserves originals for review or rejection, a supervised multi-agent coordinator with a delegation doctrine, WASM plugins, an append-only audit trail, and SQLite-backed project memory. Concerto is not a fork of OpenCode and depends on no OpenCode code. It is version 0.1.0, source builds only, with nothing published to crates.io yet.

Use Cases
- Developers use Concerto to run AI coding agents locally so source code never leaves their machine.
- Teams use Concerto to enforce tool authorization through a first-match policy engine that denies unmatched actions.
- Users use Concerto to review or reject filesystem changes via a VirtualFs overlay that preserves original content.
- Operators use Concerto to audit every file, shell, and git decision through an append-only audit trail.
- Teams use Concerto to run multi-agent orchestration with a coordinator that delegates subtasks to specialists.
- Developers use Concerto to connect to multiple LLM providers through a shared streaming interface with retry/backoff and token metering.
- Users use Concerto to extend functionality with WASM plugins for tools, providers, and memory adapters.
- Teams use Concerto to maintain project memory with SQLite FTS5 and vector hybrid retrieval.
