Overview
Inkstone is an AI assistant installed on a computer. Users can describe tasks in natural language, and it helps look up information, write content, and modify code, with both the process and results displayed in the interface. It supports pasting images in conversations, using @ to specify files, and every AI action can be clicked open for inspection.
The tool places conversations, files, web pages, and terminals side by side in one window, allowing users to freely adjust the layout without switching windows. Before each message is sent, it automatically saves a snapshot of the project; if the user is not satisfied, they can roll back with one click. For dangerous operations such as large-scale deletion or discarding changes, it pauses first and waits for user confirmation.
Users can log in within the software or enter an API Key to use models, and switch at any time. Chat history and settings are stored on the local computer; content sent to the AI is transmitted to the selected model service, and fees are charged by that service. Currently only a Windows version is available; Android phones can connect to the computer to view progress and reply to messages, but this is still in testing.
