Overview
Workpane is described as the native workspace for developers, combining terminals, code, browser, local servers and AI agents in one fast window. The project says it brings these tools together in one native window so the whole context of work stays in one place. It is written in C++, drawn on the GPU, and every feature is a Lua plugin that can be turned on and off or written by the user.
Workpane is presented as fast and light: a native application that redraws only when something changes, so an idle window costs almost nothing. Its data model keeps everything in one local database that can be exported and imported, and AI runs on providers chosen by the user, including local models.
Because features are Lua plugins, users can extend the workspace with their own plugins. The project also states that every change passes hundreds of automated tests on macOS, Linux and Windows, on x86_64 and arm64.
