Overview
Stratosync is a Linux cloud sync daemon that provides an on-demand virtual filesystem, multi-backend support, and conflict-aware synchronization. It aims to bring the OneDrive/Google Drive desktop experience to Linux, with files appearing immediately in the filesystem and data fetched on demand when opened. Changes upload automatically in the background, and conflicts are preserved rather than silently destroyed.
The daemon uses a FUSE3 virtual mount and bidirectional sync. It supports 3-way text merge for clean conflict resolution, with .conflict.* siblings under .stratosync-conflicts/ for other conflicts. It can use any of rclone's 70+ backends, including Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, S3, Nextcloud, and SFTP.
Additional features include pin/unpin for offline access, range-read fast path, readdir prefetch, a live dashboard TUI, selective sync via per-mount ignore_patterns, bandwidth scheduling via per-mount upload_window, file versioning with CLI list/restore, an opt-in Prometheus /metrics endpoint, a Nautilus emblem extension, and a system-tray indicator. Distribution packages are available for x86_64 and ARM64. The project is in beta (v0.12.1), with phases 1–6 functionally complete and encrypted cache deferred to v0.13.0+.
