Overview
Scout is a shopping and flight researcher available on Telegram, in the browser, and as a Telegram Mini App. It finds products and flights, compares real prices, and remembers what you bought. It never buys anything; instead, it provides verified links and performs arithmetic in Rust rather than guessing. The tool is built in Rust with teloxide, rig, DuckDB, and a deep suspicion of what language models say about prices.
For flights, Scout searches live fares from airlines, shows every connection and layover, counts bags, and draws the whole trip on one line. Multi-city trips are built message by message and priced only when finalized, because offers expire quickly while plans endure. The web client turns a trip into an airport timeline, showing segments, layovers, and flight numbers, and recalculates connections as choices change. The same trip page opens inside Telegram as a Mini App, with day rows, notes, and booking address working the same way.
Scout also manages bookings: each account has a booking address to forward confirmations, which are read into pending rows on the appropriate trip. Users can share their location on a trip day to get next steps, distances, and map links. The system verifies links, extracts prices from structured data, and uses a compare_prices tool for landed cost and price per unit calculations. It avoids common pitfalls like fabricated links, wrong prices, and stock status issues by relying on structured data and Rust-based arithmetic.
