Overview
ResearchMesh is an unofficial, community-built Linux CLI research client for Claude. It is a terminal chat client for the Anthropic API that provides Claude with real tools on a Linux machine, including a shell, a file editor, a browser, a persistent Python session, desktop control, and document conversion. The client works in both directions: it connects to external MCP servers and can itself be added to Claude Code as an MCP server. It includes 27 local tools, plus whatever MCP servers expose.
Claude chooses the tools and keeps working until it has an answer. There is no approval prompt; Claude runs commands and file edits as the user with no confirmation. The tool is designed for local development and emphasizes OS-level constraints, such as running as a dedicated non-admin user.
