Overview
OpenSERP is an open-source SERP API and managed cloud platform for search data workflows. It handles browser automation, multi-engine parsing, and retry logic, returning structured JSON with titles, URLs, snippets, ranks, and SERP features. The same structured response is used by the SDKs, MCP server, and n8n integration.
The product supports Google, Bing, Yandex, Baidu, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia for web and image search. OpenSERP Cloud also exposes multi-engine megasearch endpoints that query several engines in one call. It can call six search engines through one API, extract page content, track competitors, and provide AI insights.
OpenSERP is available as a self-hosted MIT-licensed engine or as a managed cloud service. The open-source version is free to self-host with no API key, per-query fee, or rate limit beyond the user's machine. OpenSERP Cloud starts with 60 free credits and then charges per successful search with no subscription.

FAQ
Is OpenSERP really free?
The open-source version is permanently free under the MIT license; self-hosting has no API key, per-query fee, or rate limit beyond your own machine. OpenSERP Cloud starts with 60 free credits and then charges per successful search with no subscription.
Is OpenSERP a free alternative to SerpApi, Serper, or Scale SERP?
The self-hosted version is a free alternative providing structured results for Google, Bing, Yandex, Baidu, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia from one REST endpoint, with no subscription or vendor lock-in. OpenSERP Cloud is the hosted alternative priced per successful search.
Which search engines does the SERP API support?
Google, Bing, Yandex, Baidu, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia for web and image search. Cloud also exposes multi-engine megasearch endpoints that query several engines in one call.
How do I self-host OpenSERP?
Use the Docker image or Go binary to start a local REST server. Full installation commands and configuration details live in the docs.
Do I need an API key to use OpenSERP?
No key is needed for the open-source self-hosted version. OpenSERP Cloud uses bearer-token API keys (osk_live_…) to meter usage and bill credits per successful response.
What output format does OpenSERP return?
JSON by default, with Markdown, TXT, and NDJSON output options when requested. The JSON shape stays consistent across engines with titles, URLs, snippets, rank, and SERP features.
What is a credit?
A credit is the billing unit across OpenSERP Cloud. For single-engine web search, billing is 1 credit per 10 returned result positions, rounded up.
Do failed requests cost credits?
No. Errors, timeouts, and empty result pages are never charged. Only successful responses with real data are billed.
Is there a subscription or minimum?
Neither. Credits are pay-as-you-go with no recurring fee and no minimum spend.
Do credits expire?
No. Purchased credits never expire. Top up once and draw down at your own pace with no monthly reset and no surprise renewals.
