Overview

Nano-Lumen is a persistent AI runtime for Windows that connects models to files, tools, and system capabilities, preserving state across sessions and restarts. It is described as a system where "files, apps, processes, knowledge, the network, external services — they shouldn't just be features plugged into the AI. They should be the world the agent knows, uses, and acts within." The runtime avoids traditional session-based design, instead using independent systems for state ownership, conversation history, context management, and cross-session memory. It is goal-driven, acquiring capabilities dynamically through self-written Skills and MCP integrations rather than relying on a fixed toolset. Nano-Lumen also tracks user work trajectory, manages its own ecosystem and memory, and provides layered security controls. It is currently in Beta and available for Windows 10 or later.

Use Cases

  • Teams use Nano-Lumen to maintain a persistent AI assistant that remembers context and state across restarts and sessions.

  • Users use Nano-Lumen to have the AI discover, vet, and integrate external MCP services automatically.
  • Professionals use Nano-Lumen to track their work trajectory so the AI can pick up where they left off without explanation.
  • Teams use Nano-Lumen to run background tasks in parallel and receive reports when done.
  • Users use Nano-Lumen to read huge files iteratively without blowing up context or wasting tokens.
  • Security-conscious users use Nano-Lumen to control system actions through six independent permission switches by risk level.
