Overview
Muse Mac Connector is a free, open-source macOS menu-bar app that provides Meta Muse with a secure, authenticated set of tools for working on a Mac. It is an unofficial community project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta. The app creates a free Cloudflare Quick Tunnel and copies the current Muse setup automatically; the user opens Muse and pastes the setup. The AI runs in the cloud, while the actual computer actions run on the Mac.
v0.5.0 alpha is the Computer Operator edition. It adds a machine-readable capability index and an optional Full Computer Mode so Muse can combine small Mac actions into larger multi-step jobs. When enabled, the capability index exposes 11 capability packs, 25 operational actions, plus the consent-gated access.enable_full authority action. Capabilities cover files, developer commands, processes, apps, clipboard, screen, UI, shortcuts, web, scripts, and settings. Muse discovers the machine-readable version at GET /capabilities.
The security model binds the local API to 127.0.0.1:8899 and uses an outbound HTTPS Cloudflare tunnel for remote access. Every request requires a randomly generated 256-bit bearer key, stored in the current user's macOS Keychain when available. Restricted Mode bounds file operations to configured roots and uses conservative command parsing. Full Computer Mode is explicit opt-in and removes the connector's configured-folder and conservative-command fences, but macOS privacy and privilege controls still apply. The project states there is no analytics, telemetry, folder watching, or project-owned backend, and that this is an alpha that has not undergone an independent security audit.
