Overview

mimocode-rtk-hook is a MiMoCode file hook that intercepts shell commands and rewrites them through RTK before execution. It is installed as a single hook file and requires restarting MiMoCode. The project states that shell commands cost 60-90% fewer tokens after installation.

The hook works automatically and does not require users to add an rtk prefix. It rewrites supported commands such as ls, cat, grep, find, tree, git, gh, docker, and kubectl. Commands already prefixed with rtk are passed through unchanged, and multi-line scripts are processed line-by-line so each command is independently rewritten.

Prerequisites are RTK >= 0.43.0 installed and in PATH, and MiMoCode >= 0.38.0. Installation involves copying hooks/rtk.ts to ~/.config/mimocode/hooks/ and restarting MiMoCode. No config changes are needed because MiMoCode auto-discovers files in hooks/.

For debugging, users can set the RTK_HOOK_LOG environment variable to log rewrite activity. MiMoCode file hooks are compiled with Bun.build on load, hot-reloaded when the file changes on disk, and circuit-breakered after 3 consecutive failures.
