Overview

MeshForge 3D is a desktop application that converts a single photo or a text prompt into a 3D mesh. It is built on the open-source TripoSR engine from Tripo AI and Stability AI and runs entirely on the user's machine, described as a "Universal 3D Reconstruction Studio" that goes "From idea to 3D model in 60 seconds — fully offline, no subscriptions, no limits, no watermarks."

The tool supports image-to-3D generation producing watertight meshes exportable as GLB, OBJ, STL or PLY, and prompt-to-3D generation using a built-in open-source text-to-image engine (DreamShaper, SD 1.5, SD-Turbo) whose concept image feeds into reconstruction. Additional features include AI background removal via rembg/u2net, a live Three.js 3D preview, automatic CUDA/CPU detection, Docker support, and an MCP server for AI agents such as Claude Desktop, Cline and Cursor.

A free MIT-licensed tier provides unlimited, watermark-free geometry-only meshes at medium quality (≤256 grid). A Pro/Studio tier adds textures with vertex colors and UV atlas baked up to 8K, higher mesh quality (up to 384 grid), batch folder-to-folder mode, a text-to-image concept generator, commercial usage rights for companies, and priority support. License keys activate offline.

FAQ

Does the free version expire or add watermarks?

No. The Free tier is unlimited and watermark-free forever; meshes are pure geometry (clay), without colors or textures.

Do I need a GPU?

No, CPU works but is slower; an NVIDIA GPU with 6+ GB VRAM is recommended (~6 s per model).

Does it send my images anywhere?

Never. Generation is 100% local; the only network use is the one-time model download.

Can I sell models I generate?

Yes — Free tier output is yours. For company-wide commercial deployment, a Studio license is required.

Is there an API?

Yes — the built-in MCP server lets AI agents (Claude Desktop, Cline, Cursor) generate models with a tool call.
