Overview
Kotys is a private AI agent that runs on the user's own computer, ensuring that chats, files, and memories never leave the machine. It works with Ollama models locally or via Ollama Cloud, and also supports any OpenAI-compatible server such as oMLX for MLX models and speech-to-text. Beyond chat, the model can use tools to read and write files, run shell commands, search the web, remember things, and manage tasks, all with user permission. The system consists of one API and three clients: a desktop app (Electron), a mobile app (Expo) that acts as a remote control, and a web client (Vite). The API runs on the user's computer, and the phone connects over the local network (LAN or Tailscale) without any cloud intermediary. Kotys is currently in alpha and not recommended for critical use.
