Overview
Inbox Job Tracker is an AI agent that understands job-related emails and turns them into a structured application history. It monitors an inbox, identifies job-search activity, and updates an application timeline automatically, using deterministic rules for obvious cases and an AI agent for ambiguous ones. The output is a CSV file for Excel, Google Sheets, or import into another tool, plus an HTML page grouped into one entry per application.
Rules handle obvious messages, while the AI agent reads bodies the rules could not settle and decides what each one means. The project can also run with no AI at all, and the rules alone still produce the application history. The core has zero dependencies and runs on any Python 3.10+.
Mailbox access is read-only: nothing is uploaded, nothing is marked as read, and nothing in the mailbox is changed. The recommended flow uses Claude Code, and no separate API key is needed because judgement runs inside the Claude Code session. Multiple mailboxes can be configured, with each account keeping its own store.
