Overview
GraphKeeper is a local-only CLI that mines a repository's git log to identify which files historically change together. It provides a queryable answer for AI coding agents instead of requiring a grep across the entire history. The tool operates without a server, account, or embeddings API, and all output is derived from the git log of the checked-out repository.
The build command runs git log --no-merges --name-only across the full history and counts every file pair that changed together in the same commit. It writes the result to .graphkeeper/graph.json. Optional call-graph enrichment is available when graphify is on PATH, which merges symbol and call edges into the same store to enable call-graph queries.
GraphKeeper ships two independent packages: an npm package for JavaScript/TypeScript and a PyPI package for Python. Both share the same on-disk schema, so a store built by one can be read by the other. The tool also provides a Model Context Protocol server, allowing AI coding agents to mine co-change history and query the graph directly.
