Overview
Ghost is an in-process bridge that gives an AI agent real access to a modded Minecraft world, including mod APIs a protocol-level bot cannot reach. It is a work-in-progress server-side mod that runs inside the game and is described as usable today. The project states that Ghost does not think and ships no model, API key, or prompt; it provides a body in the world and a contract for driving it, with the brain supplied by whatever agent the user points at it.
The bridge uses a JSON file contract rather than sockets, API keys, or a vendor. The agent writes ghost/inbox.json with a list of actions; the mod runs them on the server thread and writes ghost/outbox.json. Chat addressed to Shelby lands in ghost/asks.jsonl, tagged with the asker's rank. The bridge disarms itself on every start and does nothing until someone with access to the game types /ghost bridge on.
Ghost is a server-side mod running inside the game, so it can call mod APIs directly. It has working Applied Energistics 2 integration, including reading a network through AE2's IN_WORLD_GRID_NODE_HOST capability and submitting autocrafting jobs through ICraftingService. Permissions are gated by vanilla operator levels: LOOK and MOVE are available to anyone, CRAFT and WORLD require op 2, and COMMAND requires op 4. The in-world body follows across dimensions, can be dressed, and is harmless by construction.
