Overview
The @convokitapp/react-native package is a React Native facade over @convokitapp/sdk. It intentionally excludes the server client and adds URI-based upload helpers. It provides a ConvoKitClient and hooks such as useConvoKitSession for reactive connection state.
The SDK includes hooks for messages, inbox, and typing. useMessages, useInbox, and useTyping clear retired-session state immediately. It supports read receipts, mark unread, author edits and deletes, quoted replies, and emoji reactions, all following the shared SDK contract.
For Expo applications, a separate entry point uses the Expo FileSystem adapter. URI uploads accept { uri, fileName, contentType?, size? } while Blob, ArrayBuffer, and typed-array APIs remain available. The default entry installs mobile-safe fallbacks. The package is tested with Node 22, React 19.2, React Native 0.86–0.87, Hermes, and the New Architecture.
