argus

Argus is a multi-agent maritime domain awareness demo built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. It monitors AIS traffic to detect vessels exhibiting deceptive behaviors such as going dark near a subsea cable, spoofing an identity, loitering in an exclusion area, or meeting another ship at sea. The system investigates these vessels against registry and sanctions data, proposes satellite re-look tasking for human approval, and produces a Vessel of Interest report with every claim traced to evidence. All vessels, owners, sanctions, and zones are fictional, but real, free data sources (AISStream.io, Copernicus Data Space, OpenStreetMap, OpenSanctions) can be enabled via environment variables.

The architecture uses Strands Agents SDK and LangGraph for agent logic, with four MCP servers providing deterministic evidence tools. Agents communicate via the A2A protocol, and the system is hosted on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore with nine Runtime endpoints, two Gateways, and various managed services. It includes observability with OpenTelemetry, evaluation with ground-truth scoring, and infrastructure as code using Docker Compose locally and AWS CDK for deployment. The demo includes a watch floor UI, API, and scripted scenarios to showcase the investigation workflow.
