Overview
Aidcrew is a tool that runs a team of coding agents in a single terminal, where each agent can use its own provider and model. The core is provider- and tool-agnostic, with functionality such as provider dialects, filesystem and shell tools, guards, compaction, and prices loaded through a plugin registry. Mixed models are the default configuration, allowing planning, exploring, and reviewing to run on different models and services within one session.
Agents are defined by files a project already has, such as .claude/agents/*.md, and the team composition and model assignments are stored in .aidcrew/config.toml. Each job is assigned a git worktree on a branch named work/<job>, so concurrent jobs produce separate diffs. A leader agent receives work back from other agents, and the harness verifies completed jobs by running the project's check before merging the branch.
Aidcrew provides both a terminal interface and a browser interface over the same live session, with the web UI plugin running locally. It can run headless for pipelines, ending with one verdict per job and an exit code that reflects whether every job was checked and merged. A demo mode runs a throwaway project with a real bug and a model that does not exist, without requiring a key or account.
